Street View United Arab Emirates
The Emirates is where Street View's history slider does its most dramatic work. Comparing captures a decade apart in Dubai shows desert becoming skyline.
City guides
1 written guide for United Arab Emirates, each with the streets worth walking and the views worth opening.
What the coverage is like
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are covered comprehensively, including the artificial islands and the newer districts.
Frequent recapture, and the earlier imagery is worth opening deliberately: several districts that are now dense were empty sand in the first captures.
Desert roads between the emirates are driven, and so are some of the routes into the Hajar mountains.
Worth opening beyond the city guides
The Palm Jumeirah, which reads as a shape from above and as an ordinary suburban road at street level, which is the more interesting view.
Al Fahidi in Dubai, the surviving old quarter with wind towers, at two storeys.
The road up Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, the highest in the country, hairpinned up bare rock.
Liwa Oasis on the edge of the Empty Quarter, where the dunes are several hundred metres high.
