Privacy Policy
The short version: your history and saved places live in your own browser, we have no account system and no database of what you looked at, and the map requests go to Google rather than to us.
Places you look at
The explorer records the places you open so that the history page can show them to you. That record is written to your browser's local storage on your own device. We cannot read it, it is not linked to you, and clearing your browsing data deletes it.
Saved places work the same way. There is no account, so there is nothing for us to attach a location to even if we wanted one.
Searches and map requests
When you search for an address or load a map, the request goes from your browser to Google's Maps Platform. That is how the service works and it means Google receives the request, subject to their own privacy policy. It does not pass through our servers.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. It uses local storage, which is a different mechanism: it stays on your device and is never transmitted with a request.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting aggregate analytics to count page views. Analytics never receives the addresses you search or the places you open.
Advertising
The site is supported by advertising on the written pages. Third party ad vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com or aboutads.info. There are no ads inside the map, the Street View panel or any tool.
Children
This is a general audience site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.
