Beaches in Street View
Fifteen coastlines you can walk without booking anything.
Beaches are unusually good in Street View for one reason: promenades. A seafront path is exactly the kind of route Google sends a walker along with a backpack camera, so a great many beaches were captured at eye level rather than from a car park behind them.
That changes the experience. You are on the promenade with the sand beside you rather than looking at the coast from a road, and on the best of them you can follow the whole bay end to end without a break.
The other thing worth noticing is what the weather was doing when the camera passed. These captures are single days, so one beach is empty under cloud and another is packed in full sun, and neither is more true than the other.
