Famous Landmarks in Street View
The buildings everybody recognises, seen from the pavement rather than the postcard.
Almost every famous building is photographed from one particular angle, usually from the air or from a spot the photographer had special access to. Street View gives you the other thing: the view a person gets, from the ground, with the fence and the queue and the traffic in the frame.
That is more interesting than it sounds. The Hollywood Sign turns out to be distant and small. The Eiffel Tower turns out to be enormous and impossible to fit in one view. Standing under something is a different piece of information from seeing a picture of it, and this collection is a set of places where the difference is worth the visit.
Every entry below opens the explorer at that spot. Nothing is stored, nothing needs an account, and you can save any of them to your own browser as you go.
